.

{! 0 19 8 hPWPA VIEW OF Dl-m EAGLE-COLORADO
PROJECT (continued)

(and Mexico).

\
During the current ten-year measurement period (which ts
I
I

PAGE 3

just

about to end),. Colorado has ,been running very close to not honoring this

obligation. If more massive transmountain diversions are constructed,

such as the Eagle-Colorado or Eagle-Piney Project, Colorado will certainly

fall short of its interstate compact requirements. These other states

will force Colorado to let the water through. What might happen is that

the Denver taxpayers will end up paying for the construction of a giant

collection system which cannot be used, or used only in exceptionally

high run. off years. Meanwhile, the construction of these unuseable systems

will have caused serious damage to the areas where they are being built.

The Eagle Piney Water Protection Association opposes the' Eagle-Colorado

Water Diversion plan, as it does the Eagle-Piney Water Diversion plan.

Sincerely,

Roger C.
