Durango Pumping Plant. Stage 1

PART 1

GENERAL

0:J2233

SECTION 00320 - GEOLOGY

1.01 GENERAL GEOLOGY

A. The geologic drawings, sections, descriptions, water-level data, test data and logs of
subsurface explorations contained in these specifications include the geologic data on
which design of the work are based and are considered the most useful to prospective
offerors. These data were used for the final design and represent the key data that were
used for design. All logs of subsurface explorations, including logs of boreholes and test
pits shown on the geologic drawings, are included in these specifications. All
interpretive drawings are prepared to suggest general trends between data prints and do
not depict local irregularities. The following geologic drawings were used for design and
are provided in these specifications to portray the geologic conditions at the pwnping
plant site:

I. 69-529-5
2. 69-529-6
3. 69-529-9
4. 69-529-10
5, 69-529-15
6. 69-529-21
7,
8.
9.

Surface Geology, Location of Exploration and Geologic Sections
General Geologic Legend, Explanation and Notes
Bedrock Contours
Ground Water Contour
Geologic Sections F-F' and G-G'
Reclamation and DOE Monitoring Wells
Geologic Section A-A'
Geologic Sections B-B' and C-C'
Geologic Sections D-D' and E-E'

B, Descriptions of materials, including weathering, fracturing, durability, hardness,
openness of joints have been standardized as shown and defined on drawings G_ (40-D-
7022) and G _ (40-D-7023). These standards are further explained and defined in the
Engineering Geology Field Manual, 2nd Edition, V olwne 1, 1998, and V olwne 2, 2001,
published by the Bureau of Reclamation, available from the Reclamation Service Center.

C. Laboratory testing performed by the Bureau of Reclamation, including evaluation ofrock
and soil strengths and petrographic testing, are available at the FeO, ALP Division,
telephone (970) 385-6593,

D. Design features shown on the geologic drawings may not reflect the most recent revisions
or exact design details which appear in these specifications and on the design drawings.
On some geologic drawings, the details and specifics of certain design features are
omitted or summarized in order to give preference to the depiction of geologic
information. Details of design features are shown on the design drawings. Additionally,
on some design drawings, only the basic geology is shown and the geologic drawings
should be used for more complete portrayal of geologic conditions.

Geology
00320 - I
