I will have a more detailed position on <br /> <br /> <br />boundaries after examining the three bills which I <br /> <br /> <br />understand may be introduced to establish wilderness <br /> <br /> <br />in Colorado. <br /> <br /> <br />Many details remain to be negotiated. For example. we must <br /> <br /> <br />assure that bill language pertains only to new and not to <br /> <br /> <br />existing wilderness areas. Questions also remain as to the <br /> <br /> <br />quantity of water that should be expressly reserved. Resolving <br /> <br /> <br />these issues will take hard work and dedication by all parties. <br /> <br /> <br />I am struck by how close we are to compromise. I believe <br /> <br /> <br />agreement is possible within the principles I have articulated <br /> <br /> <br />today. I call on both of Colorado's senators to continue their <br /> <br /> <br />good efforts to conclude this process and move to the <br /> <br /> <br />successful passage of a Colorado wilderness bill. <br /> <br />-3- <br />
