survey by Colorado Water Conservation Board personnel in the fall of

1971 verified the fact that evidence of saline seepage was present

along the north bank of the river as far as one-half to three-quarters
a mile
of RmYYR in both directions from the Meeker well. Surface flow

about 200 feet below the well was measured at 12 gallons per minute.

The other seeps and springs causing salt water swamps were too dis-

seminated to be measurable. Private lands, both up and down stream,

were being severely damaged by salt water seepage and percolation.

The area was re-inspected by personnel of the Environmental Protection

Agency and the Bureau of Reclamation.

determine corrective measures or solutions to the leakage problem by

representatives of the following agencies: the U. S. Bureau of

Reclamation, the U. S. Geological Survey, the U. S. Environmental

Protection Agency, the Colorado Division of Water Resources, the

Colorado Water Quality Control Commission (Department of Public

Hex Health), the Colorado Water Conservation Board, and the ColoradO

oil and Gas Commission.

12. From 1973 to 1974, XHHXHXKeXH increased studies of geologic and

hydrologic features of the Meeker Dome area were done by the U. S.

~ conservation Board on a matching-funds basis. These required

stepped-up monitoring of a six-mile reach of the White River and

tributaries; limited NxXXXH drill hole tests of the dome on private

lands that are being saturated with salt water; and verification by
