000555

DOCUMENTATION AND USAGE OF PROGRAM
MODSIM

Introduction

Data file creation and editing for MODSIM is accomplished
using a menu-driven program called MODSET. Program
MODSET uses a query-response format and in most cases
supplies the user with either default data information or
current contents of the data file being edited.

An additional program called ECHO IT provides the user
with an organized summary of all system data input, exclusive
of hydrologic and demand data which have been entered as
time series. This latter information is available in the output
from MODS 1M itself.

Program output from MODSIM is composed primarily of
tabular listings, including specially formatted output for ease
of transfer to spreadsheet programs for graphical plotting and
further analysis.

True color graphic screen displays are also available for all
flow, storage and demand information in the system.

Since output information can be quite extensive for river
basin simulation runs, certain options are available for
limiting the size of the output file. These include the
possibility of simulating and/or printing out information for
only a certain user-specified subsequence of time intervals for
specific nodes and links, rather than the entire operational
horizon and for all portions of the system. For example, a 20
year simulation may be performed over monthly time
intervals, but only a five year drought period within that
period may be of particular interest.

24
