OlJllO'L

1. Execute OPEN40 to create two blank direct access files (T APEll.DIR and
TAPEI2,DlR),
2. Execute MHYDRO's UPDATE option to fill TAPEI1.DIR and
TAPE 12,DIR with data,
3. Execute MHYDRO's CRSM option to build an input file to CRSM
(TAPE3),

. MHYDRO contains many functions (create data for CRSM, create Punch output,
perform statistical analyses, etc,), To reduce the time required for the porting,
only the following portions of MHYDRO were checked:

1. UTILITY, which puts data into files IAPEI1.DIR and TAPEI2.DIR.
2, CRSM, which creates data for CRSM,
3. PUNCH, which creates an output file for review and checking,

. The approach used to replace the mass storage routines with standard read and
write statements was adopted from the DWB version, As part of this conversion,
the DWB changed the station ID by adding 5, No explanation for adding 5 was
identified, therefore it was not done by this porting,

. Future refinements to the ported MHYDRO which may be useful include the
following:

1. Complete conversion checking of other portions of the program, such as
PUNCH and the STATS subroutines.

2, Incorporate the functionality of the utility OPEN40 within MHYDRO
itself,

Conclusions

MHYDRO has been converted from the USBR's Cyber to a PC, Results produced
by MHYDRO directly and those used by CRSM appear to be the same as those
produced by the Cyber.

fn=\crss\word\mm 122993,doc

5
