orn 438

II SNAPSHOT II

3.5 SNAPSHOT (Optional)

Several of the output options controlled by the CONTROL card
will produce massive amounts of printout, if they are not
limited. For example, if the RSALT printout (IOC(5)) is en-
abled, it produces almost 180,000 output lines for a basin
having 300 sequence points and a 26-year study. Usually, the
user needs to output only a few sequence points or a few
months of certain years.

The SNAPSHOT card allows the user to minimize printout con-
trolled by IOC's 4, 5, 6, 23, and 24. The user can specify
which months, years, reaches, or sequence points are of in-
terest. For IOC's requiring specification of a reach and/or
sequence point, only one reach and/or sequence point can be
specified in any given month.

The SNAPSHOT feature affects only, IOC's 4, 5, 6, 23, and 24
on the CONTROL card.

3.5.1 Preparation

a. If SNAPSHOT control cards are included in the input
file immediately after the TITLE card, they are acted upon.
No other control is required to activate the SNAPSHOT proce-
dure. '

b. The typical timespan of a SNAPSHOT control card's in-
fluence is 1 month. However, the RSALT printout (IOC(5)) can
be activated for 1 year by specifying month as zero.

c. Several SNAPSHOT control cards can be activated during
the same month. But, if each control requires a reach or se-
quence number, then all must refer to that same number.

d. The cards must be in ascending numerical order accord-
ing to date.

3.5.2 Quantity

A maximum of 20 SNAPSHOT cards may be prepared.

17
