00'14 23

II

RON

II

3.2 RON

The RUN card provides run parameters such as the beginning
month and year and the ending month and year of the run, the
beginning year of the hydrology, the number of years to in-
crement the hydrology for multitrace runs, the number of
traces, the year to terminate growth in demands, and the year
to begin hydrology wraparound.

3.2.1 preparation

The first four items on the card specify the start and end of
a run. The beginning and ending months are entered as
two-digit numbers representing the month, i.e., January = 01,
December = 12. The beginning and ending years are entered as
four-digit numbers, i.e., 1986 = 1986, 2040 = 2040. A run
cannot start before 1960. The length of a run cannot exceed
lS0 years.

The fifth item "beginning year of first hydrologic trace" po-
sitions the hydrology input file to the year indicated, prior
to starting the simulation.

The sixth item "the number of years between the start of each
new hydrologic trace" is used when more than one hydrologic
trace is applied in a run. For example, in a 14-trace run
with a 1982 beginning year, a 2032 ending year, a beginning
hydrology year of 1906, and a s-year increment, the beginning
hydrology years would be 1982 = 1906, 1982 = 1911, 1982 =
1916, etc., until the 14th trace begins with 1982 = 1971.
Wraparound occurs when the last year of hydrologic data is
read from the input file and the trace is not complete. The
input file is rewound and reading resumes at year 1906 unless
otherwise specified on the RUN card.

The seventh item "the number of traces II 'sets the number of
traces in the run. This number will be greater than 1 if the
run is a either a multiple hydrology run (RUN card) or a mul-
tiple surplus operating strategy run (SURPLUS card).

The field specifying the year that terminates growth in the
demands is generally left blank, but some special consider-
ations may require the demands to have zero growth beyond a
particular year.

The last item is the year to begin reading after rewinding
the hydrology input file, when wraparound occurs. For this
option to work, strategy option No. 4 on the SPECIAL card
must be set to 1, otherwise the beginning of the file, which
begins with water year 1906, will be used.

-J

8
