This
manual explains the process of performing a modeling run, but
may not include all the detailed guidance that a novice user
might need. A novice user of CRSS will need assistance from
experienced users in order to perform an accurate analysis,
especially in the areas of output data selection and inter-
pretation of results.

1.2 subjects

The major subjects covered in this manual are:

Creation and/or modification of data files - section II.

Running the programs - section II.
preparation and format of input data cards - section III.

--,

. Explanations and examples of output data - section IV.

1.3 CRSS Files

The CRSS operates using data files stored on disk. Figure
1-1 illustrates the interrelationships and data flow between
the programs, input files, and output files comprising the
CRSS. Typical computer file names are given in parentheses in
the figure.

A CRSS run begins with the creation and/or modification of
the CRSM Control Data (CONTROL), Demand Input Data (SMDD),
and Hydrology Input Data (MHYDROC) files. These files supply
input data to the CRSM (Colorado River simulation Model).
The Demand Input Data Generation Program (SMDID) and the Hy-
drology Input Data Generation Program (MHYDRO) are used to
create SMDD and MHYDROC respectively. Often only the Control
Data File needs to be modified and the official or current
versions of the demand and hydrology input data files are
used.

After running the CRSM program, the TAPEDIT program may be
run. The user can use TAPEDIT to output specified parameters
in either tabular or graphical form.

1
