<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />2893 <br /> <br />Where the members can be distinguished, the Recapture <br /> <br /> <br />Member typically is composed of interbedded sandstone, <br /> <br /> <br />siltstone, and shaly mudstone. The sandstone is grayish <br /> <br /> <br />pink (SR8/2) and consists of fine- to medium-grained quartz. <br /> <br /> <br />The siltstone and mudstone beds are dark reddish brown <br /> <br /> <br />(10R3/4) and are lenticularly bedded. The member character- <br /> <br /> <br />istically weathers to a soft steep slope. The Westwater <br /> <br /> <br />Canyon Member is typically yellowish gray (SY8/1) to <br /> <br /> <br />moderate-greenish-yellow (10Y7/4) fine- to coarse-grained <br /> <br /> <br />sandstone interbedded with green and red bentonitic mudstone. <br /> <br /> <br />The Recapture is 0 to 75 feet thick, and the Westwater <br /> <br /> <br />Canyon is 50 to 125 feet thick in McElmo Canyon. The <br /> <br /> <br />Recapture and Westwater canyon Members thicken rapidly south <br /> <br /> <br />of the McElmo area, and each is about 200 feet thick in the <br /> <br /> <br />southwestern part of the project area. Strobell (1956) <br /> <br /> <br />reported 220 feet of Recapture and ISO feet of Westwater <br /> <br /> <br />canyon at Beclabito Dome in the Carrizo. Mountain area. <br /> <br />i3 <br />
