Colorado River Watershed Database: The
Hydropshere Concept.

Our GIS database concept provides natural
resource professionals with a state-of-the-art "one-
stop-shopping" data delivery solution. We
integrate important and valuable natural resource
databases, display them in a meaningful
geographic context, and effectively deliver selected
, data to the user. Hydrosphere effectuates data
delivery(viewing, plotting, and exporting) using
ArcView GIS Software and our user-friendly
Windows interface:

The Geographical Context

Hydrosphere's database is tightly integrated
with ESRI's ArcView 2. Use the full power of '
this easy-to-use GIS software to display
observation station locations in a feature-rich
geographical context. GIS features include the
point location of observation' stations, political
boundaries,' streams, hydrologic unit boundaries,
city names, reservoir milnes, and lake names.

, , Select target observation stations using
Arc View's spatial geoprocessing tools or logical
queries based on attributes from the Colorado
River Watershed Database.

The Colorado River Watershed Database
observation station point coverages contain a Point
Attribute Table (PAT) with a record for each .
unique combination of station, parameter,' and
statistic. The PAT's have a single record for each
station, a description attribute table with a record
for each station, and a statistic attribute'table with
a summary statistic record for each unique
station/parameter combination.

Hydrosphere's Windows Interface

Select stations of interest from the
'Colorado River Watershed Database using. .
Hydrosphere's user-friendly Windows interface.
Use the Windows interface independently of .
ArcView(for those of you not using the popular
GIS software) or use it seamlessly while rumiing
,in ArcView 2.' .

Like our renowned DOS interface our user-
friendly Windows interface is organized using
various database selection review windows. You
may view and select target stations and parameters
from the station view and parameter view
windows. Selection criteria include Station ID,
name, observation parameter, site code,
hydrologic unit code, state, county, and
latitude/longitude.

Once your' parameters are chosen select'
from statistical summaries, daily time series,
plotting and data export views. Statistic views
include summary, daily, monthly and extreme
views. Plotting and exporting selected data is as
close as a couple of clicks' on your mouse or
trackball.

, In addition to menu-driven data selection
you may des'ign your oWn SQL queries to zeroin
on your target stations.

Open DatabaSe Connectivity

The Colorado River Watershed Database
links tightly to Microsoft Excel using DDE. .
Seamlessly model and graph selected data using
this popular spreadsheet software:

. HydTosphere's datab,ase is designed using
the Open Database Connectivity standard. Many
popular database management software systems
support this standard and can be used to access the
Colorado River Watershed Database tables directly
off the CD-ROM. '

Requirements

The Colorado River Watershed Database
ships on a single CD-ROM in native ArcView
formaL The minimal configuration for ArcView is
a 386/25 with 8 MB of RAM, and 120 MB hard
drive. Hydrospheres Windows interface runs on
386/25, with 4 MB of RAM. .

Hy~is a regbtcrallnlC!cmarkofHydtospbtre Resource Cou.swl.oul1:l, Im:.
