Subject: Closed Basin Division, San Luis Valley Project, Colorado
Revised Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act Report

This memorandum constitutes our revised Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act
Report on the subject project, The attached substantiating report presents
the same coverage but in greater detail, Previous reports on this project,
by our Service, include one dated December 9, 1960 and supplements to that
report dated June 24, 1963 and May 20, 1968, Our most recent reports dated
September 10, 1969 and October 28, 1969 dealt with the water salvage system
and the Rio Grande channel rectification respectively. On May 26, 1977, an
advance planning aid memorandum on the project was provided your agency,

It recently became apparent that a revised report would be necessary due to
the following: 1) changes in project design, 2) additional wildlife data
(wetland inventory) is available that was not available in the most recent
report, 3) the mitigation proposal (Mishak Refuge) is no longer valid, and,
4) mitigation for the BLM Blanca Wildlife Habitat area was not previously
considered. This report supersedes all previous reports and memoranda on
this project,

Colorado Division of Wildlife and under the authority and in accordance with
the provisions of the Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act (48 Stat 401 as amended;
16 U,S.C, 661 et. seq.). Concurrence in the report by the Colorado Division of
Wildlife is indicated by the attached copy of a letter dated April 1,1982,
signed by Director, Jack R. Grieb. Material from this report will be used in
the Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement on this project, The cooperation
of your agency in the studies and preparation of this report is greatly appre-
ciated.
