Table D. 5 and Figures D.l through D. 5 iden ti fy t he preliminary

practicably irrigable acreage for the San Juan watershed. Two

parcels totaling 293 acres were identified as initially PIA in the

San Juan Watershed. The estimated annual water diversions would be

730 acre-feet from the San Juan River.

In order to finalize the PIA determination, the cropping pattern and
net agricultural returns were re-evaluated by the economist (Western

Research Corporation) on a parcel-by-parcel basis and adjusted to

reflect individual parcel characteristics. Another engineering

analysis comparing the revised payment capacity with a revised off-

farm irrigation system and cost was performed as presented in the

following Section D.4.6.

D.4.6 Final Practicably Irrigable Acreage Determination

Each of the two parcels which make up the approximately 288 acres was

individually evaluated by the economist and adjusted to reflect

individual parcel characteristics. These characteristics include

soil suitability, land clearing and preparation, and farm efficiency

adjustments for parcel size. After this analysis, one of the two

parcels was found to qualify as potential PIA. The details of the
