<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />'1 <br />, <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />1 (2) the maintenance of the Colorado River Flood- <br />2 way is essential to efficient operation of control struc- <br />3 tures, such as Hoover Dam, on the Colorado River to <br />4 the benefit of all users of the river or the water of the <br /> <br />5 rIver; <br /> <br />6 (3) that present development in the floodway may <br />7 affect the efficient operation of the river; and <br />8 (4) that property damage occurred in 1983 in the <br />9 floodway and damage may occur again in the future. <br />10 (h) The purpose of this Act is to- <br />II (1) establish a task force to study and report to <br />12 Congress on possible solutions to the problems caused <br />13 by the 1983 flood along the Colorado River Floodway <br />14 and the problems of development along the floodway; <br />15 (2) make recommendations as to whether individ- <br /> <br />16 uals affected by the 1983 flood should be compensated <br />17 or relocated outside the floodway by the United States; <br />18 and <br /> <br />19 (3) authorize the Secretary of the Interior to im- <br /> <br /> <br />20 plement the recommendations made pursuant to clause <br /> <br />21 (2). <br /> <br />22 ESTABLISHMENT OF TASK FORCE <br /> <br />23 SEC. 3. (a) There is established the Colorado River <br />24 Floodway Task Force (hereafter in this Act referred to as the <br />25 "Task Force"). <br /> <br />.549815 <br />
