0017J6

36.2--11

WATER INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM HANDBOOK

b. The worksheet {ex. 5} used for calculating required maintenance flows
for Gold Creek is the same one used to estimate the maintenance flows for
a representative station (Gander Creek) as shown in exhibit 3: Using the
Q/QB ratios {column 6} and durations (columns 4, 5a, 5b, 5c) calculated
for the representative station in exhibit 3, enter these same values in
the appropriate columns on the worksheet for Gold Creek {ex. 5}.

{1} Multiply the Q/QB ratio values in column 6 by QB {185.B cfs}
and record in column 7.

(
\

{2} Record in column 8 the same time-volume coefficients (TVC)
calculated for Gander Creek {ex. 3}.

{31 Multiply TVC {column 8} by QB (l8S.8 CFS) and record total
acre/feet volume for QB' QR, QL1' and QL2 in column g.

(4) The maintenance flow requirements for the pOint of quantification
are summarized by the three major components at the bottom of the
worksheet. The following are recorded:

(al Total volume of bankfull flow (QBI in AcFt.
(b) Total volume of rise-recession flow (1/2 QR) in AcFt.
(c) Total volume of baseflow (QL) in AcFt.

(5) Sum these three component volumes for a total maintenance flow
(QI) volume in AcFt.

(6) Estimate mean annual discharge (QA) for pOint of quantification
by multiplying the ratio Q/Q8 (which corresponds to mean annual
discharge for representative station) by bankfull discharge calculated for
the point of quantification. (For this example, QA . 0.163 x 185.8 .
30.3 cfs.)

(7) Calculate estimated total water yield for the pOint of
quantification using mean annual discharge .(QA x 365 days x 1.9835) or
methods described in Step 4.

(B) Component volumes and total maintenance flow volume are then
represented as percentage of the estimated total water yield.

10 No. 1
9/10/85
