0017VO

36.2--5

WATER INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM HANDBOOK

(3) Multiply the increment value in column 2 by.365 (to calculate the
number of days equal to the percent increment) and record in column 3.

(4) Round to the nearest whole day the value in column 3 and record in
column 4.

(

(5) column 5 is not applicable.

(6) Record the O/QB ratio for QB (1.0) in column 6.

(7) Calculate the CFS value related to the ratio value and record in
column 7 (that is, QB is multiplied by the ratio value in column 6).

(B) Calculate the time-volume coefficient (TVC) and record in column 8
(that is, multiply the number of days in the component time increment in
column 4 by the O/Qa ratio value in column 6 by 1.9835). This
coefficient may be applied to any OB value for an ungaged drainage area
to produce an acre-foot volume commensurate with the bankfull flow rate and
duration.

(9) Calculate the total AcFt volume resulting from OB and its
duration, (that is, OB x TVC in column 8 - AcFt) and record in column 9.

b. Rise-Recession Flow (row labeled OR in ex. 3):

(1) Read the percent time increment limits for the individual
rise-recession segments from the flow-duration curve (ex. 2), beginning
with the 0.90 (90& of QB) level, and proceeding through the level equal
to the QA/OB ratio. The percent time increments can also be
interpolated from the flow duration data, columns 5 and 6, exhibit 1.

(2) For each segment:

(a) Record the percent time limits in column 1.

(b) Calculate the percent time increment (as a decimal) for these
limits and record in column 2.

(c) Multiply the percent time increment (as a decimal) by 365 (for the
number of days in the increment) and record in column 3.

(d) Round off to the nearest whole day the day duration increment and
record in column 4.

(e) Divide the number of days in column 4 by 2, round to the nearest
whole day, and record in the 1/2 OR column (Sa).

i
~

IO No. 1
9/10/85
