Prevention of Repeated Failure to Meet Tolerances:

1. When concrete placements result in hardened concrete which does not meet
specified tolerances, submit to Contracting Officer an outline of preventive
actions such as modifications to forms, modified procedure for setting screeds,
and different finishing techniques to be implemented to avoid repeated failures.
Submit when requested by Contracting Officer.

2. Government reserves the right to delay concrete placements until preventive
actions which have been approved by Contracting Officer are implemented.

3.06 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL

A. Concrete Quality Control Measures

1. Provide quality control measures to assure compliance of the concrete with the
contract requirements.

B. Concrete Quality Assurance Program

I. The Government will, independently of the Contractor's concrete quality control
program, conduct a concrete quality assurance program incorporating tests and
Contractor-furnished sampling equipment specified below. As a part of its
concrete quality assurance program, the Government will conduct tests to the
extent and frequency necessary to ascertain that the concrete constituents, as well
as fresh and hardened concrete, meet requirements of specifications.

2. Tests

a. The Government will obtain samples and conduct tests in accordance with
the test methods and specifications listed below:

I) Sampling hydraulic cement; ASTM C 183.

2) Sampling pozzolan; ASTM C 311.

3) Sampling aggregate; ASTM D 75.

4) Reducing field samples of aggregate to testing size; ASTM C
702.

5) Absorption offine aggregate; ASTM C 128.

6) Absorption of coarse aggregate; ASTM C 127.

7) Total moisture content of aggregate; ASTM C 566.

8) Sampling fresh concrete; ASTM C 172.

9) Concrete uniformity; ASTM C 94, annex AI.

10) Density (unit weight) and yield; ASTM C 138, except that a
0.25-cubic-foot container may be used for nominal aggregate sizes
up to I -1/2-inches.

I 1) Air content; ASTM C 231.

12) Slump; ASTM C 143.0
