002438

Durango Pumping Plant - Stage 1

Apply curing compound using personnel qualified in the specified spray
techniques.

Apply the compound in a marmer conforming with safe control
proceedings outlined in the manufacturer's instructions and the MSDS.

In order to ensure bond of curing compound, remove excessive form oil
from concrete surfaces by washing with a solution of trisodium phosphate,
followed by a thorough rinsing of the surfaces with clear water. The
trisodium phosphate wash will be required when the amount of form oil on
the concrete will impair the bond of the curing compound or when
surfaces are exposed to public view.

Keep the formed concrete surfaces where curing compound is to be
applied continuously moist by repeated light spraying with water until
immediately prior to application of curing compound. Apply the curing
compound as soon as the surface film of moisture has disappeared, but
while the concrete still has a damp appearance.

After application of the curing compound has been completed and the
coating is dry to touch, perform all remaining required concrete repairs
without delay. Moisten and coat completed repairs with curing compound
in accordance with the foregoing requirements.

Repair without delay curing compound that is damaged, or that peels from
concrete surfaces within 28 days after application, by moistening the
concrete and applying additional compotmd in a manner satisfactory to the
Contracting Officer.

o. Reapply the curing compound as necessary to maintain a continuous,
water-retaining film on the surface for 28 days.

m.

n.

1.

J.

k.

I.

(

12. Curing with polyethylene film

a. Completely cover surfaces with polyethylene film to provide an airtight,
water-retaining film over the entire concrete surface for at least 14 days.

b. As soon as the concrete has hardened sufficiently to prevent damage,
thoroughly moisten all surfaces by spraying them lightly with water and
then covering them completely with polyethylene film.

c. Lap edges ofthe polyethylene strips to effect a seal to adjacent strips and,
at the extreme edge of the curing area, held tightly against the concrete
surface.

d. Adequately secure the polyethylene film to withstand wind and to prevent
circulation of air inside the curing fihn.

e. Sustain polyethylene film curing for at least 14 days and protect
polyethylene film as necessary to keep it intact, and keep the concrete
surface moist for the full curing period.

H.
