Protection <br /> <br />1. Protect all concrete against damage until final acceptance by the Contracting <br />Officer. <br /> <br />2. Do not load concrete or remove forms and shoring until the concrete has gained <br />sufficient strength to safely support its weight and all imposed loads. <br /> <br />3. Protect fresh concrete against: erosion from rain, hail, sleet, or snow; <br />contamination from foreign materials; and damage from foot traffic until the <br />concrete has hardened. <br /> <br />4. Protect hardened concrete surfaces which receive U2 or U3 [mish against damage <br />from foot traffic and other construction activity by covering with protective mats, <br />plywood, or by other effective means. Methods of protection are subject to <br />approval by the Contracting Officer. <br /> <br />5. Whenever freezing temperatures are imminent, enclose exposed concrete with <br />warmth-retaining sheets or other insulating means and maintain the concrete at a <br />temperature of not less than 50 degrees for 72 hours after placement and an <br />additional 72 hours above freezing. <br /> <br />6.
