<br />0024i5 <br /> <br />Division of Atmospheric Resources Research, Bureau of Reclamation, <br />U.S. Department of the Interior, sponsors with the state cooperative <br />studies and planning for drought relief, is engaged in the Colorado <br />River Enhanced Snowpack project (CREST), and other weather <br />modification activities pertinent to Colorado. The Division Office <br />provides an excellent source of expert information on weather <br />modification activities for the state. <br /> <br />Colorado Climate Center, Department of Atmospheric Science, Colorado <br />State University (CSU), Fort Collins, provides climatology <br />information useful to the program. <br /> <br />The Atmospheric Science Department, CSU, Fort Collins, provides <br />valuable weather modification information from research projects and <br />is a source of expert information for the state. <br /> <br />National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), Boulder conducts <br />weather modification research activities in Colorado and other <br />states. NCAR provides an excellent source of weather modification <br />expert information for the state. <br /> <br />Weather Modification Program Office, Environmental Research <br />Laboratories, National Oceanic and ACmos haric Administration <br />NOAA, U.S. Department of Commerce, Boulder, finances evaluation of <br />state projects in North Dakota and Utah. Discussions have taken <br />place with representatives of the Department regarding federal/state <br />cooperation between NOAA and Colorado. <br /> <br />The National Weather Service Office, NOAA, provides weather <br />forecasting expertise in the state and additional information to the <br />department as needed. <br /> <br />Commercial weather modification companies in the state conduct <br />commercial projects, research activities for federal agencies, and <br />test cloud seeding techniques. <br /> <br />North American Interstate Weather Modification Council (NAIWMC) <br />includes representatives from many states and national offices <br />interested in supporting weather modification activities. <br /> <br />Weather Modification Association includes professional weather <br />modifiers and representatives of regulatory offices. <br /> <br />The Colorado Drought Relief Water Availability Task Force is housed <br />in the Colorado Department of Military Affairs, Division of Disaster <br />and Emergency Services. A Department of Natural Resources <br />representative attends monthly task force meetings to share water <br />availability information and keep members apprised of weather <br />modification studies for drought relief. <br /> <br />25 <br />
