Such' patterns show a mucjl higher number of cases
falling below the arithmetic average than above it. This is certainly
to be expeated during the summer months .and probably also prevds
during the vinter months in this area.

While a very high percentage of the streamflow of the
upper Colorado River originates in the State of Colorado. a more
complete anaJysis covering an additional ten stations scattered
throughout the other three States of Wyoming. Nev Mexico and utah
could be accomplished in the SSllle study.

STEP NO. 2

Since 1948 the Weather Bureau has currently been entering
on punch cards the dail.y climotologiaal observations for about 215 .
stations in Colorado. These include regular Weather Bureau Stations
and cooperative and volunteer climatological stations throughOllt the
state. As of July 1. 1958. ten years of record is now available on
punched cards for most of these stationa.

In the western slopes of the Colorado Rockies which feed
the Uppe:rCo1orado River Basin there are same 30 stationa which have
a record of 11 years or more prior to 1948. In addition to the 20
stations listed above for which the greater record has already" been
shown. additio1l&l stations which have records that could and should
be placed on punch cards are I

.Aspen
Norwood
Northdale
Craig
Eagle

The placing of the daily precipitation (and temperature)
records on punched cards for theae stations would constitute the
handling of approx:llJlate1y 1100 station years of record.

Green Mountain Dam
Greystone
SUnbeam
Wolf Creek Pass

. It is partic:ularlyimportant that these cards be considered
as a contributary effort toward ult:llJlate more complete analysis of
the cl:llJlate of the State of Colorado, and therefore they would have
use beyond the partic:ular studies being proposed here.

m order to expand the work of ~ching cards for all
precipitation stations. particularly relevant to the Upper ColoradO
River Basin, selected stations should be added to the record from
the three additional states of the Upper Basin.
