The objective is to formulate <br />a plan to meet the future M&I water supply needs of fast growing urban communi- <br />ties and maintain the present level of irrigated agriculture in the area. The <br />Regional Director's Proposed Report to the Commissioner is scheduled for <br />completion in FY 1976. <br /> <br />Present Status <br /> <br />'. <br /> <br />.' Present land use studies have been completed. Engineering studies on storage <br />reservoir locations and distribution system alignments for more efficient manage- <br />ment of the water have been completed. Hydrology studies for identifying available <br />supplies, and a computerized reservoir operation program are in progress. An <br />input-output economoc study is nearing completion for the' area by Colorado State <br />. University. $174,000 are available for conducting the investigations in FY 1974. <br /> <br />Major Work Elements <br /> <br />(1) Apprise the general public of the options available for water management and <br />. seek the participation of the various interests in selecting a plan of development <br />that. will meet the needs and will receive wide acceptance. <br /> <br />(2) Assess the environmental impacts of the recommended plan and alternatives. <br />(3) Determine the economic feasibility of the recommended plan. <br />(4) Prepare the Regional Director's proposed report and the 'environmental <br />impact statement. <br /> <br />_ Anticipated Results fu,d Actions <br /> <br />It is anticipated that a workable plan can be devised for managing the available <br />water supply to meet future needs. Results of the economic analysis cannot be <br />anticipated at this time. It is also unknown whether it will be possible to obtain <br />the required cooperation among the various interests in resolving the complex <br />physical, legal, and financial problems that are associated with full development. <br /> <br />( <br /> <br />0795 <br /> <br />or <br />
