C. The following 75 rivers'have been designated for study by P.L. 90-542
or by amendatory legislation as indicated. Study leadership is indi-
cated as (NPS) National Park Service, (FS) Forest Service, (HCRS)
Heritage Conservation and Recreation Service, or (BOR) Bureau of
Outdoor Recreation. The study function of the Wild and Scenic Rivers
Program was transferred within the Department of the Interior to the
National Park Service from the Heritage Conservation and Recreation
Service, formerly the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation, by Secretarial
Order Number 3017, January 25, 1978. All studies indicated as (BOR)
were completed by the former Bureau of Outdoor Recreation before the
program was transferred to the Park Service.
