Recreational Considerations

;'

a. Waterways that presently are in a- natural state and that also
possess unique recreational qualities (white water, for example)
should be given high priority for study.

b. Although a waterway is dammed, it may still possess unique
recreational qualities, such as "white water" (even though
dependent upon releases from the dam). If the waterway meets
the other criteria for a wild or scenic river, it should still
be considered a possible candidate for inclusion in the system.

11. Historic Considerations - }Umy waterways and the surrounding areas
are rich in the history and culture of past civilizations. The
waterways which are associated with the lore and legends of the past
can prove to be important links between past and present, thereby
adding to the total concept of the river experience and providing
a valuable complement to the system as a whole.
