Occidental submitted a

request for party status with respect to these hearings by

letter of February 22, 1980. Occidental's present and con-

templated future discharges of total dissolved solids (TDS)

to the waters of the Colorado River system are and will con-

tinue to be in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations,

and permit requirements.

(1) Occidental supports the concept adopted by

the Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Forum (hereinafter

"Forum") and proposed for adoption by the Commission of

setting salinity standards consisting of numerical criteria

at the three downstream checkpoints set forth in the

Commission's proposed regulation. Occidental believes that

this approach gives maximum flexibility to the State of

Colorado to manage its program of salinity control, and to

coordinate with other state and federal efforts to control

salinity in the Colorado River basin.

1415

lit>. ..;_~2.~~-'.u.

--- - --,,-
.. ~'-4_' '
