'['his study prollidecl a compn~hensive <br />view of the need for, and the feasibility of, a river protpction progr~ in ~'ew <br />Harrpshire. Tbe work included an inventory list of sixty-seven rivets trat are <br />worthy of further study for possitle inclusion in a river protection svstem. <br />Also, included in the stucy are guidelines for sr,uc'yine <,nd plannina indivic'ual <br />wild, scenic and recreational rivers. <br /> <br />As part of SCOPP work, located .>ithin the 0ffice of Stat!" Planning, the <br />Southern New HaJTpsbire PlanninG Corrroission has been contractecl .lith 'to develop a <br />river corridor use and manaae~ent plan of the Soutb Pranch of the pisauatacuog <br />River. This contract extends from July,1981, through March, 1982, It is a <br />demonstration pro~ect and, as such, '.,ill te exaf"inina ways of river and river <br />corridor protection utilizina existinq community and state laws and reaul?tions. <br />Tied close Iv into the stur'ly process is the pisouataauoa \"atershe"i Assnciation, a <br />privilte nonprofit group which has had a long record of action for protection of <br />the entire wat!"rshed. <br />CQ1'l'ACI': 1>'r.
