OD3176

. Joint Coordination Agreement
January 1972, Revised November 1978
Page 6

standard SCS procedures incorporating ADP programs can be util-

ized to determine elevation-peak-frequency relationships and flood

profiles. The selection of methodology will be dependent upon the

reliability and pertinency of existing survey data and the re-

maining information needed to complete analyses on each study.

c. Vertical and horizontal control will be established in several

ways, such as engineering field surveys, use of available data

from previous surveys, or a combination of both. The intensity

of engineering suveys needed will vary with each study. Photo-

grammetric and topographic mapping requirements will be specified

before a study is initiated.

d. Maps will be prepared showing areas of potential flooding and

other features, pertinent to the study objectives. Legible,

uncluttered maps will be reproduced for report purposes at scales

compatible with study requirements.

e. Each study area will be analyzed as to the practicability of a

regulatory or theoretical f100dway study. The inclusion of flood-

way ~tudies will be in accordance with ewCB and participating

governments' recommendations.

f. Existing natural and beneficial values served by the floodplain

will be assessed in the study area. Significant values are to be

identified and preservation and restoration opportunities are to

be considered.
