... f) 'l1 !': l.
U,- ill 1<

printer output is called for. At all other times, when the PRINT button is selected, the user
can print the graphics from the screen. Currently, pressing the left mouse button dumps the
entire screen to a color ptinter. A center mouse click allows the user to define the area to
be printed and save this piece of the screen to a Postscript file. Finally, selecting the right
mouse button automatically sends the user-defined piece of the screen to a Postscript
compatible printer.

As mentioned above, a need was also identified to allow the user to customize the inter-
face to his or her specific needs and to do this simply and quickly. Thus, a file "setup. file",
was created which contains definitions of various parameters which affect the interface
both in terms of display appearance and in terms of controlling model parameters. This file
can be edited using an operating system level text editor. Perhaps even by copying and
renaming the setup file different users could personally customize their interface environ-
ment and save it for later use. The user can control the following: the strings which repre-
sent the names of the reservoirs, diverters, and parameters; the color of the background,
the table row and column header, the table cell, the highlighting, the lines graphs, the
button up color, the shadow, bar plot, the outline of the bars, and the background behind
the map. In terms of constraining the model parameter values, the user can set the absolute
minimum and maximum of the physicallirnits, and the range value (which controls the
resolution of the slider) for each input parameter.

6.0 Future enhancements

- BHOPS

- database, historical data -- problem of "updating", provide scenario generation, etc.

There is a desire to plot graphs which have two parameters of different unit types. A stan-
dard method to provide this functionality is to display one unit on the left vertical axis and
the second unit on the right vertical axis. This functionality is not currently supported by
the CADSWES toolbox. To implement this, the additional functionality would need to be
developed by making use of some of the current graphing routines, modifying them, and
then integrating this with the rest of the toolbox routines. This is similar (in order of
magnitude) to the effort that was required to build in the rubber-band editing function.

24 Monlh Study Project Doalment.ation Volwne I

618191

11
