<br />Recent Activities <br /> <br />Following formation of the Colorado River Basin Salinity <br />Control Forum, meetings were held with representatives of the EPA <br />in .January, March and April 1974 to discuss a proposed regulation <br />on Colorado River salinity which would require the states to adopt <br />water quality standards for salinity and submit them to EPA by <br />October 18, 1975. The Forum also immediately established procedures <br />and a time schedule in cooperation with the Environmental Protection <br />Agency.for establishing the standards and initiated necessary <br />studies in cooperation with the Bureau of Reclamation. <br />The proposed regulation was published in the Federal Register <br />on June 13, 1974. After hearings in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Denver, <br />Colorado, in August 1974, the final regulation was published on <br />December 18, 1974, in the Federal Register. The regulation sets <br />forth the salinity control policy, procedures and requirements for <br />establishing water quality standards for salinity in the Basin. <br /> <br />-10- <br />
