one phase of the development of a comprehensive
water management plan for the Potomac and Shenandoah
River Basins in Virginia for the Virginia State
Water Control Board.

Responsible for developing recommendations for a waste-
water treatment plant for Ayer, Massachusetts, to meet
EPA requirements for best practicable treatment. A
requirement was a design to meet the town of Ayer's
needs. Initial capacity would be 4.1 mgd (1995), with
possible regional capacity of nearly 7.4 mgd (1995).

Responsible for the design of approximately 1.5 miles
of 8 to 24-in. diameter interceptor sewer and 10
stormwater division structures on combined sewers,
including approximately 2,700 ft. of dry weather
flow connecting sewers for the city of Portland, Maine.

Responsible for the development of a report on com-
bined sewer overflows for the city of Spriilgfie1d,
Massachusetts. Project objectives were evaluating
the city's combined sewer system and making recom-
mendations for upgrading the system.

Responsible for developing design flows for all inter-
ceptor sewers and the design and preparation of
specifications for 9 to 10 miles of sewers including
24 to 54-in. diameter interceptor sewers for the
Kennebec Sanitary Treatment District in Maine. Bid
price for the interceptor sewer contracts was approxi-
mately $2.6 million. .

Other responsibilities included a literature search
and evaluation of phosphorus removal data required
for a report to the city of Pittsfield, Massachusetts
on additions and modifications to that city's waste-
water treatment facility; Phase I of a water and
wastewater faci1 ity inventory in Vermont and I!ew
Hampshire for the Upper Valley Planning and Develop-
ment Council; a report on the relief of intercepting
sewers for the Town of Wakefield, Massachusetts,
recommending approximately $1.2 million in improvements
to an existing pump station and force main.
