This innovative design concept of
flood control was selected as one of the top ten outstanding engineering
achievements of 1974 by the National Society of Professional Engineers.

Environmental Planning Program

LI
I
I

A portion of the program involved an investigation of alternative methods
of controlling storm runoff from new developments for the City of Scotts-
dale, Arizona. A flood plain ordinance requiring developers to dedicate
all land within the lOO-year flood plain formed a basic element of the en-
vironmental program and the recommended development review process.

..J

Alternative Development Patterns

An evaluation of development patterns and their impacts on the environment
of the Kaneohe, Hawaii drainage basin. A significant portion of the study
was concerned with evaluating runoff coefficients for various types and
patterns of land use and using this informati.on to determine the lOO-year
flood plains in the basin.

"I

Academic Experience:

Taught graduate and undergraduate courses in urban engineering
and planning at University of Colorado, University of Oklahoma,
University of Hawaii, Northern Arizona State Universlty, 1965-
1973.

--1
,
