CONSTRUCTED <br /> <br />Mixing models were constructed to more quantllatively investigate the convergence of olf7Sr values in the <br />Navajo aquifer along flow paths I and 2 (figure below) to the o87Sr composition of water from the Upper <br />Paleozoic aquifer. Sirrular to the bromide. iodide, and chloride data, the o17Sr values in combination with the <br />strontium concentrations can be u.<.cd in hyperbolic mixing lines to determine if water from the Upper Paleozoic <br />aquifer repre~nts a geochemically consistent salinity source to the Navajo aquifer. Four mixing lines were <br />constructed using samples from four different end-member wells completed in the Navajo aquifer mixed with <br />the mean strontium data from four wells completed in the Upper Paleozoic aquifer (figure below). Two <br />end-member water samples from bOlh flow paths I (Nl and N48) and 2 (N38 and N44) were selected on the <br />basis of containing low strontium concentration. Mixing lines were construcLed using the following equation: <br /> <br />Cmix=CI'Y+C2'(I-Y), (3) <br /> <br />where Cmix is the BPSr value or stromium concentration of the end-member mixture.
