<br />Goano <br /> <br />-10- <br /> <br />"That Vlhenever a development of power is necessary for the <br /> <br />irrigation of lands under any project undertaken under the said <br />reclamation act, or an opportunity is afforded for the develop- <br />ment of pOVler under any such project, the Secretary of the <br />Interior is authorized to lease for a period not exceeding 10 <br />years, giving ,.,reference to municipal purposes, any surplus <br /> <br />pOVler or pOVler privilege, and the moneys derived from such <br /> <br /> <br />leases shall be covered into the reclamation fund and be placed <br /> <br /> <br />to the credit of the project from which SUCil poneI' is derived". <br /> <br /> <br />(EmphasiS supplied) <br /> <br /> <br />This Act ~as follo.led by another on December 5, 1924 (43 Stat. 672, 703). <br /> <br /> <br />This Act directed the manner in which the Secretary of Interior should apply <br /> <br /> <br />revenues from power produced by a reclamation project. <br /> <br /> <br />The Hayden-O'Mahoney amendment to the Interior Department Appropriation <br /> <br /> <br />Act for the year 1939 (Act of May 9, 1938, 52 Stat. 291, 318) provides: <br /> <br /> <br />".0; 'ol- <> ,} ;. all moneys received by the United States in <br /> <br /> <br />connection lvith any irrigation projects, including the incidental <br /> <br /> <br />power features thereof, iHH} shall be covered into the reclamation <br /> <br /> <br />fund'HH>: Provided, That after the net revenues derived from the <br /> <br /> <br />sale of pOVler developed in connection v~th any of said projects <br /> <br /> <br />shall have repaid those construction costs allocated to be re- <br /> <br /> <br />paid by pOVler revenues therefrom .;HH} then sc.id net revenues ,HH:. <br /> <br /> <br />shall, after the close of each fiscal year, ce transferred to <br /> <br /> <br />and covered into the General Treasury as 'miscellaneous' re- <br /> <br /> <br />ceipts ;H";:'''. <br />
