<br />v.ay 1970 <br /> <br />PROJECT: Grand Mesa <br /> <br />O,ij393 <br /> <br />STATUS: FC.3sibiUty <br /> <br />l <br /> <br />LOCATION: Mostly in Delta County surrounding the town of Ccdaredge, Colorado <br /> <br />SPONSORING AGE:\CY: Grand l-!esa Wolter Conservancy District organized Apr. 10, 1961 <br />North Fork W~tcr Conservancy District organized P~r. 17, 1941 <br /> <br />DESCRIPTION: <br /> <br />Th~ project would develop flows of tribut3rics to the Gunnison River and stab- <br />ilize selected reservoirs on Grand Y.esa for fishery and recreation purposes. <br />Th~ water lost co irrigation through stabilization would be replaced by the <br />potential Cactus Park Reservoir about 4 miles east of Cedaredge. Water for the <br />latter reservoir would be supplied by the Surface Creek Feeder Canal and Grand <br />Mesa Canal. The Grand Mesa Canal would convey water from the potential Electric <br />Mountain Reservoir on West Muddy Creek and intervening streams along its route. <br />Irrigation water would be released to th~ Ccdaredge and Grand Mesa Canals for <br />co~veyances to project lands. Municipal and domestic water would be made avail- <br />able in the vicinity of Ccdaredge either by direct flows or storage releases. <br />Recreation and fishery facilities would be provided at both potential reservoirs <br />and at selected reservoirs on Grand ~~sa. The scenie environment and living <br />conditions would aloo be enb3nced by the praject..
