<br />MONTHLY REPORT <br />SA1~ LUIS VALLEY PROJECT, COLORADO <br />FEBHUARY 1955 <br /> <br />Rio Grande Division <br /> <br />Work on this Division consisted of compiling data, charts <br />etc. for preparation of a report on the feasibility of works proposed <br />for the Division. A copy of all data used in preparing cost curves <br />for Wagon Wheel Gap Dam and Reservoir were furnished the Regional of- <br />fice for review prior to preparation of the final Dhase of the report. <br /> <br />Prenaration of the final report awaits the Evaluation of <br />Flood Control BenefHs by the Corps of Engineers. <br /> <br />Closed Basin Division <br /> <br />Two sets of test wells with accompanying observation wells <br />were nut down at selected points in the area during the month. One <br />well was test-pumped and the data furnished the Geological Survey <br />for using in computing drain yields. . <br /> <br />Fluctuation of the ground water was measured at sixty two <br />selected wells during the month <br /> <br />Conejos Division <br /> <br />The Project Manager called on the President,H. C. Myers and <br />Secretary, Max Miokey to review the status of the Conejoa Water Con- <br />servancy District's finanoial position. It was pointed out that the <br />District was still in arrears on part of its debt to the United <br />states and that prompt payment would lessen the interest penalties. <br /> <br />District officials Vlere reassured of the Bureau's efforts <br />to keep operating oosts at a minimum. <br /> <br />General <br /> <br />Routine administrative work of the project continued during <br />the month. The annual property inventory ires started during the month <br />and routine purchases of necessary articles handled in accordance with <br />approved practice. <br /> <br />Snow surveys were start~d at the end of the month at pre- <br />selected courses. <br /> <br />On February 23rd, the Project Manager conferred with the <br />Regional Director'regarding .nroblems-of administration. It was decided <br />to abolish the job of Administrative Assistant and seek clerical help <br />of Grade GS-2 or CS-3. <br /> <br />The Administrative Assistant was to be offered a similar <br />job on the Carlsbad Project at Ft.
