MONTHLY REPORT SA1~ LUIS VALLEY PROJECT, COLORADO FEBHUARY 1955 Rio Grande Division Work on this Division consisted of compiling data, charts etc. for preparation of a report on the feasibility of works proposed for the Division. A copy of all data used in preparing cost curves for Wagon Wheel Gap Dam and Reservoir were furnished the Regional of- fice for review prior to preparation of the final Dhase of the report. Prenaration of the final report awaits the Evaluation of Flood Control BenefHs by the Corps of Engineers. Closed Basin Division Two sets of test wells with accompanying observation wells were nut down at selected points in the area during the month. One well was test-pumped and the data furnished the Geological Survey for using in computing drain yields. . Fluctuation of the ground water was measured at sixty two selected wells during the month Conejos Division The Project Manager called on the President,H. C. Myers and Secretary, Max Miokey to review the status of the Conejoa Water Con- servancy District's finanoial position. It was pointed out that the District was still in arrears on part of its debt to the United states and that prompt payment would lessen the interest penalties. District officials Vlere reassured of the Bureau's efforts to keep operating oosts at a minimum. General Routine administrative work of the project continued during the month. The annual property inventory ires started during the month and routine purchases of necessary articles handled in accordance with approved practice. Snow surveys were start~d at the end of the month at pre- selected courses. On February 23rd, the Project Manager conferred with the Regional Director'regarding .nroblems-of administration. It was decided to abolish the job of Administrative Assistant and seek clerical help of Grade GS-2 or CS-3. The Administrative Assistant was to be offered a similar job on the Carlsbad Project at Ft.
