Th~ VOLM and AREA records together constitute a tabular
representation of a capacity-area curve for a specitic reservoir (identitied in the RESX record).
Each volume point must have a corresponding area point. These records are required for each
reservoir. Each non-zero point on the VOLM record must be unique to avoid divide-by-zero
errors in the surface area interpolation subroutine. The tirst field in the VOLM or AREA
record contains the type specitication ('VOLM' or 'AREA'), and the following tields. in order,
contain reservoir number and a maximum of ten reservoir volume or area values in increasing
order. For each value of volume, there is a corresponding value of area. Fields are separated
by one or more spaces.

AREA
VOLM

8
8

o
o

13 41
116 302

65 98 135 193 251 313 406
1126 1924 3087 4714 6926 9745 14395

DEMN Records

Demand arcs withdraw water from the network. The tirst tield of the DEMN record
contains the type specitication ('DEMN'), and the following tields, in order. contain demand
number, demand name. node number at which demand occurs and 12 seasonal demand ranks.

DEMN

16

ABLateral

150

13 13 13 13 13 13 13 13 13 13 13 13

DEeR Records

The Decree arcs function like Links except that their capacities are stated as a
cumulative amount over 12 months. They generally represent tlow of a stream
entering the system. Return tlows are represented by a set of
records: the RTFL, RTNSOURCE and RTNFRACTS records. These records are used to .
assign return tlow destinations and to disaggregate return tlows from each source in both time
and space. The tirst tield in the RTFL record contains the record type specification ('RTFL').
The following fields, in order, contain the return tlow number, the node number at which the

5
