CALIFORNIA AND PACH'IO SOUTHWEST WATER PROBLEMS 29 <br /> <br />HAMMOND PROJECT <br />The Hammond Project is located in northwestern New Mexico along <br />the San Juan River and will provide irrigation water for appro.xi- <br />mately 3,900 acres most of which is not now irrigated. The project <br />includes. the HanullI.Jllu D.ivel~sioll Dam and canal systems, storage <br />releases from the Navajo Reservoir, part of' the Colorado River Stor- <br />age .Project, will .supplement. natural stream flow as a major source to <br />the water for the project. <br /> <br />SMITH FORK PROJECT <br />The Smith Fork Project is located in west central Colorado. The <br />project will pro~ide supplemental irrigation water sripply for 6;Q20 <br />acres of land and provide a new supply for. 1,320 acreS of new unirri- <br />. gated land. The 'project includes Crawfonf,Dam and reservoir, and a <br />number of canals and related facilities. ! , <br /> <br />CENTRA~ UTAH PROJECT <br />The Central Utah Project will serve central and nor'theastern Uta)1. <br />The project will be constructed in ~wo pJ:1iJ,ses.The initial phase will <br />serve approximately 160,000 acres, of land with approximately 48,800 <br />acre-feet annually available for municipal and industrial and re\(lted <br />purposes. The project includes nine storage dams for the combined <br />storage capacity of 1,600,000 acre-feet, eight diversion dams and a <br />37-mile 'aqueduct in the Uinta Basin and seven storage reservoirs with <br />a capacity of 107,400 acre-feet, aqueducts, 'power plants, and diversion <br />dams in the Bonneville Basin. ;:,'" <br /> <br />FLORIDA PROJECT <br />The F,lorida Pr~ject will serve the Florida, Mesa an'd Florida:River <br />, ". " I"H <br />Valley in southwestern Colorado. The project will provide irrigation <br />water for 12,700 acres of presently developed land and 6,300 acres <br />not presently irrigated. The major features of the project will include <br />Lemon Dam and distribution and drainage facilities. . J' <br /> <br />, <br />" <br />EMERY COUNTY PROJECT I '.. <br />. . This project is located in east central Utah. The project involves an <br />irrigable 'area of about 24,000 acres and is located in'the Green 'River <br />Basin. Approximately 75 percent of the area involved is pres.~ntly <br />irrigated in part with limited supplies available. The 'project ineludes <br />Joes Valley Reservoir on Cottonwood creek and a series of canals, and <br />a diversion dam. <br />SEEDSKADEE PROJECT <br />This project is located in the Upper Green River.B!lSin in Wyo.1'ning. <br />The project provides irrigation water for apprfx:imately 60,000 acres <br />undeveloped land. Features of the project inclu~e Fontenered Dam on <br />the Green River, a pumping plant, laterals, orainage system and a <br />series of canals. <br />
