Serious differ-
ences exist however, in the available estimates of ultimate water devel-
opment in the Upper Basin both from existing projects and proposed
ones.
'fable II compares the Colorado River Board and Bureau of Recla-
mation estimates of eventual uses of existing and authorized Upper
Basin projects only.

COLORADO RIVER STORAGE PROJECT
The Colorado River Storage Project involves development in Ari-
zona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming and is the initial
stage of comprehensive development of the Upper Colorado River Basin.
Its objectives arc to provide long-time regulatory storage sufficient to
permit the upper division of the basin to meet the obligations of the
Colorado River Compact with regard to flow at Lee Ferry and also
to utilize the basin's apportionment of the waters of the Colorado.
The plans are to inclnde four major dams and storage units-Glen
Canyon on the Colorado River in Arizona near the OUtah border, Navajo
on the San Juan River in New Mexico, near the Colorado border, Flam-
ing Gorge On the Green River in Utah, near the Wyoming border, and
Curecanti on the Gunnison River in west central Colorado. Also au-
thorized with the project are a number of participating projects which
will receive power revenues from the larger project to help pay for
their irrigation construction costs. The arrangemcnt is similar to that
proposed for the Pacific Southwest through the dcvelopment fund.
The various participating projccts are as follows:

PAONIA PROJECT
This project is located in west central Colorado and will ultimately
serve 2,230 acres of land now under irrigation and 13,070 acres already
irrigated lands. The project includes Paonia Dam and reservoir on
Deep Creek and canal works.

,
