0018J3

Two major alpine glaciations occurred in the higher mountains ofIdaho with the last
major alpine glaciation occurring during the Pinedale Substage. Minor glaciation occurred
during the Temple Lake Substage about 4,000 years ago which probably affected higher
elevations in the Bitterroot Range and Sawtooth Range (Ross and Savage, 1967). Higher
mountains throughout the central Idaho mountains and the Seven Devils mountain range were
glaciated during the Pleistocene by alpine glaciers (USDA Forest Service Draft Upper Columbia
River Basin EIS, 1997). Pan of the Valley Creek watershed has upland valley deposits.
commonly derived from alpine glaciation (Bond and Wood, 1978) .

United States' Expert Report Disclosing Me1hodologieS fer Quantification of Organic Act Claims Consolidated Subcase No, 63-25243

19
