It has a shoreline of lot miles. <br />When the lake is full, it will be about 3t miles long and li miles wide <br /> <br />and, under normal conditions, will cover 2,042 acres. The shoreline will <br /> <br />be 14 miles when' the reservoir is full, and the lake will be about 55 feet <br /> <br />deep at its deepest point. <br /> <br /> <br />large nocks of ducks and geese stopped at the Bolll1Y Reservoir in <br /> <br /> <br />the fall of 1950 and the spring of 1951, and the area ~veB evidence of <br /> <br /> <br />becoming a hunter's paradise. Recreational and wildlife development of <br /> <br />the area is under MY and additional work is planned for the future. A <br /> <br />sw1mming beach has been completed, the access roads to the public recrea- <br /> <br />tional area have been graveled, and a boat launching ramp has been con- <br /> <br />structed. Trees and shrubs have been plented in the recreational area <br /> <br />and seedling trees in the sites selected for wildlife habitat devell')pment. <br />Addi tional plantings will be made in the spring l')f 1952. Other work, <br />including fencing, installing fire grates , 'si~a, refuse cans, constructing <br />and placing picnic tables, drilling a well and installing a pump, and <br />constructing toilet facilities is now under way and will be completed in <br />December 1951. The Colorado Game and Fish Department has planted 96,652 <br />fish in the reservoir since 1950. Species planted include blue fills, bass, <br /> <br />and drum. A memorandum of understanding is being negotiated between the <br /> <br />Bureau of Reclamation and the Colorado Fish and Game Iepartment whereby <br /> <br /> <br />the Colorado Game end Fish Department will assume responsibility for the <br /> <br />administration of the wildlife andrecreat10nal aspects of the reserwir. <br />, . <br /> <br />Bolll1Y Dam was selected by the Bureau of Reclamation as the s1 te .f <br /> <br />an upstream embanklllent protection experiment designed to . lower costs for <br /> <br />2493 <br /> <br />5 <br />
