<br />002515 <br /> <br />The findings of the citizen survey indicate a mixed public <br />reaction to weather modification and snowpack augmentation on <br />the basis of information currently available to the public. <br />Organizational acceptance of the concept is also mixed, but <br />with a higher degree of favorability than that found in the <br />individual survey. The report emphasizes that public response <br />is fluid and subject to change as additional knowledge is gained <br />and project activity proceeds. It concludes by identifying <br />major problems in the area of project social acceptance and <br />provides recommendations for dealing with those problems. <br /> <br />Recommendations include: (1) establishing a strong information <br />and education program for the citizens and organizations of the <br />area, (2) setting up a citizen advisory committee, (3) an annual <br />assessment of constituent opinion, (4) creation of a compensatory <br />mechanism for county impacts, and (5) additional research where <br />necessary to answer questions by the public. <br /> <br />43 <br /> <br />
