Bennett
Sub task 2.07 White River Basin Generate Aggregated Parameters

Introduction

This memo describes the results of 2.07 White River Basin Generate Aggregated
Parameters. The objective of this task was as follows:

For each aggregated node, calculate total or representative values for the
following: administration number, ditch capacity. and irrigated acreage served.
Create appropriate StateMod input files.

Approach and Results

Aggregated Parameters Parameters for each aggregated structures were estimated by
running the DMI watright using a command file (Exhibit 1). Results are presented on
Exhibit 2.

Comment

Discrepancies were noted between the irrigated acreage obtained from watright and that
produced from the GIS. The discrepancies were caused by one of the following:

1. Watright estimates acreage based on crop type but does not check that the land
was coded as having been perennially irrigated. Therefor watright returns
acreage which was coded as having been irrigated infrequently or historically.

2. Watright only returns irrigated acreage if water rights exist for a structure. _____1,

In order to resolve the above concerns without impacting the year 2 results, the setdiv
option of watright was used to replace watright irrigated acreage estimates with the
information obtained from the GIS. Potential refinement to watright and an analysis of
implications to the Phase 2 Water Rights Planning and CU results will be considered as
part of Sub Task 2.
