fractically the only .~ater supply data in the ,",..asio ::oeport are contained in
J..ppe,l'l.Jix I, page 368. Tables of stream flow' at vartous st'l.tions in the several
divisions are included in descriptions of the divisions, but th~se consist of re-
cords of widely v~rying lengths, rarely coincident, and additional data and much
study are'ne~~d to reduce them to comp~r3cle values usable to compute outflow by
states. Historic.!)] em] virgin fJems of ColoMdo ri ver at Lee Ferry are shown in
Appendix I, follo~cd by an analysis of flow from Lee F~rry to International Bound-
ary, based on the derived Lee Fer~"Y flow, which extends fco!!!. 1897 to 1943. Since
actual :neasurcr-if:!nt at Lee Ferry dates only from 1921 the rest of the tabulation
has been built up fron earlier records of stations above Or below or by other
methods., There is little pertinent record of v.due before 1904..

Stream "aging by the United States Geolofdc.lll Su:-vey was started in 1889 and
h.lls gro~n unsteadily in scope and importance since that time.. A somewhat system'~
atical beginning was md~e about 1904, but records using ~odern techniques, in-
tend~d to afford a permanent survey of water resource date from about 1914.. Key
stations in tht~ ur~er basin h~ve reco~ds from about 1914, ;1hich are a sounder be
