<br />, " <br /> <br />4It <br /> <br />orn D,/4 <br /> <br />4It <br /> <br />A BILL <br /> <br />TO AMEND THE WILD AND SCENIC RIVERS ACT TO DESIGNATE CERTAIN <br />SEGMENTS OF THE PIDERA RIVER AND THE MIDDLE AND EAST FORKS <br />OF THE PIEDRA RIVER IN COLORADO AS A COMPONENT OF THE <br />NATIONAL WILD AND SCENIC RIVER SYSTEM. <br /> <br />Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of <br />the United States of America in Congress Assembled, <br /> <br />SECTION 1: DESIGNATION OF SEGMENTS FOR INCLUSION IN WILD AND <br />SCENIC RIVERS SYSTEMS. <br /> <br />Section 3(a) of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act (16 U.S.C <br />1274) is amended by adding at the end of the following new <br />paragraph: <br /> <br /><f. <br /> <br />"PIEDRA, COLORADO.--The following segments as generally <br />depicted on the proposed boundary maps numbered ____and <br />dated , published by the United States Department <br />of Agriculture, each to be administered by the Secretary <br />of Agriculture: <br />"(A) East Fork of the Piedra from the unnamed ponds <br />approximately one-quarter mile below the Continental <br />Divide to the Weminuche Wilderness boundary, as a wild <br />river. <br />"(B) Middle Fork of the Piedra to include the seven <br />unnamed drainages along the Continental Divide that <br />comprise the headwaters to the Weminuche Wilderness. <br />boundary as a wild river. <br />"(C) Piedra Middle Fork from the Weminuche Wilderness <br />boundary to Forest Development Road 631 to the confluence <br />of the Middle and East Forks of the Piedra as a scenic <br />river. <br />"(D) Piedra Canyons from Forest Development Road 631 to <br />Indian Creek, as a wild river. <br />"(E) Lower Piedra from Indian Creek to Colorado Highway <br />160 as a recreational river. <br /> <br />Effective beginning October 1, 1989, for purposes of the <br />segments designated under this paragraph, there are <br />authorized to be appropriated such sums as may be <br />necessary for acquisition of lands and interests in lands <br />and for development." <br /> <br />SECTION 2 SAVINGS PROVISIONS <br /> <br />The reservation of water established by the inclusion of <br />portions of the Piedra River in the Wild and Scenic Rivers <br />System shall be subject to the provisions of this act, <br />shall be adjudicated in Colorado Water Court, and shall <br />have a priority date as of the enactment of this Act. <br />
