Provide technical assistance to Federal-State <br />forestry programs. <br /> <br />2527.04 - Responsibilities <br /> <br />2527.04a - Associate Deputy Chief for Resources, National <br />Forest System. The Assoclate Deputy Chief tor Resources <br />Nat10nal Forest System, shall ensure that floodplain man- <br />agement and wetland protection and management considera- <br />tions are included in all Forest Service activities and <br />programs affecting land use. <br /> <br />2527.04b - Regional Foresters and Area Director. The <br />Regional Foresters and Area D1recror snall: <br /> <br />1. Ensure that flood hazards, floodplain and wetland <br />values, and all alternatives that affect a floodplain or <br />that involves new construction in wetlands are fully con- <br />sidered in the Forest Service planning and decision making <br />processes. (FSH 1909.15). <br /> <br />2. Coordinate activities and interchange of floodplain <br />and wetlands information with other concerned Federal and <br />State agencies. <br /> <br />3. Ensure that cooperative technical and financial <br />assistance programs include an evaluation of floodplain and <br />wetland values. <br /> <br />4. Ensure that all documents conveying interest in or <br />authorizing use of floodplains and wetlands on National <br />Forest System lands contain restrictions which will reduce <br />the risk of loss and preserve the national and beneficial <br />values served by floodplains and wetlands. <br /> <br />*-FSM 3/86 AMEND 48-* <br />
