Municipal Water Supplies (36 CFR 251,9), This <br />regulation authorizes the Chief of the Forest Service to <br />enter into agreements with municipalities to restrict the <br />use of National Forest lands from which water is derived to <br />protect the municipal water supplies (FSM 2543.04a, FSM <br />2543.4, FSM 1023.4). <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />2. Watershed Lands on the Tongass National Forest (36 <br />CFR 251.35). This regulation pertains to watershed lands <br />of the city of petersburg, Tongass National Forest, Alaska <br />(FSM 1023.4). The regulation closes the municipal supply <br />watershed of the town of Petersburg to entry except by <br />permit. Timber may be removed under conditions that safe- <br />guard the water supply. <br /> <br />2501,33 - Office of Management and Budget Circulars <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />1, Circular A-67 of August 28, 1964, prescribes <br />guidelines for coordination of Federal activities in the <br />acquisition of water data from streams, lakes, reservoirs, <br />estuaries, and ground waters, The Department of the <br />Interior operates a national network for acquiring and <br />coordinating Federal water data. See FSM 2534,5 for <br />direction relating to cooperative programs for water data <br />acquisition, <br /> <br />2. Circular A-I06 of December 31, 1974, pertains to <br />the control of environmental pollution from existing <br />Federal "facilities," and the control of nonpoint pol- <br />lution. Section 313 of the Clean Water Act of 1977 <br />interprets facilities as applying to land managed by the <br />Federal Government. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />2502 - OBJECTIVES <br /> <br />1.
