"

OJ1228

effectively address these issues, Colorado has begun the

development of an integrated information and analysis system.

The Colorado River Decision Support System (CRDSS) is a

computerized water resource information and analysis system that

will improve state decisions on Colorado River interstate compact

policy, water resources management and water rights

administration. During the first two years (1994 and 1995) of
the scheduled four year project, emphasis will be placed on
organizing and accessing a wide range of basic water resource
information, using computer tools developed by the U.S. Bureau of
Reclamation to examine water uses and storage in the entire
Colorado River Basin, development of tools to determine the
amount of Colorado River water use in Colorado and tools to

evaluate the potential for new uses.

CRDSS is a joint undertaking of the Colorado Water Conservation
Board and the Colorado Division of Water Resources and will be
usable by staff and wide variety of water user representatives.

A consulting team, headed by Riverside Technology, inc. of Fort

Collins, and including Colorado State University and W.W. Wheeler

and Associates will develop CRDSS. A Technical Advisory

Committee of major Colorado River water users is helping to guide

the Project.

Additional information on the Project is available from Ross

Bethel, CRDSS Project Manager, at 866-3441, ext. 308.
