<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Conditions to be attained: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />1) Endangered and threatened species are <br />protected and the Service has accomplished <br />its role in recovery of threatened and <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />~::..d~~ge:ed ~pe:::i::::; f~~::..d ~t tbc wviiiilliCiJ.t. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />2) Habitat fragmentation has been minimized, <br /> <br />3) Native Colorado River fish have been <br />restored andlor are de-listed. <br /> <br />4) Habitat for native and non-native fish is <br />maintained. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />5) Fishery and wildlife inventories have been <br />completed and species are monitored to the <br />point that changes in population trends or <br />characteristics can be identified and/or <br />managed, <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />· VISITOR USE - Develop a strategy <br />to determine the appropriate levels of <br />visitor use and experience and alternative <br />strategies for maintaining the diversity of <br />quality visitor experiences consistent <br />with Black Canyon of the Gunnison <br />NM's purposes and significance. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Conditions to be attained: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I) A strategy has been developed with public <br />input to guide the park in ensuring a quality <br />visitor experience, resource preservation, and <br />development consistent with the noncrowded <br />and pristine nature of the park and <br />maintaining the ability of visitors to have a <br />high-risk adventure experience in the <br />wilderness. <br /> <br />2) Wilderness areas are properly monitored for <br />resource impacts and visitor use. <br /> <br />3) A strategy to determine and establish a <br />carrying capacity that protects resources and <br />provides a range of experiences has been <br />developed, <br /> <br />4) Recreational uses have been evaluated and <br />are permitted when such use is otherwise <br />compatible with park and NPS management <br />objectives and regulations. <br /> <br />5) Professional emergency services are <br />provided year-round to park visitors either <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />directly by park staff and/or through <br />innovative cooperation. <br /> <br />· COMMERCIAL SERVICES- <br />Tdentifv the ontimllm level of Gorn111en:;i~1 <br />r . - - <br />services to be provided and their <br />complementary role in accomplishment <br />of the park mission. Commercial <br />services include anything offered to the <br />public or private individuals in which <br />park resources are used and that results in <br />compensation of any kind to an <br />individual, organization, or corporation, <br />Compensation may be "for profit" or <br />"nonprofit" under local, state, or federal <br />law. <br /> <br />Conditions to be attained: <br /> <br />1) A commercial services plan has been <br />completed to provide long-term strategic <br />guidance for management of commercial <br />services. <br /> <br />2) Consistent with the Concessions Policy Act <br />of 1965, the commercial services plan <br />evaluates, through the planning process, <br />those services that are necessary and <br />appropriate for present and future visitors to <br />the park, <br /> <br />3) The commercial services plan identifies: <br /> <br />. commercial services and facilities <br />that are necessary and appropriate <br /> <br />. levels of services and facilities <br />essential to serve visitors <br /> <br />. types of facilities necessary to <br />support commercial services <br /> <br />. appropriate areas for facilities that <br />serve visitors <br /> <br />4) The type of commercial facilities and <br />services that would complement quality and <br />diverse visitor experiences and resource <br />conservation have been determined. <br /> <br />· FA CIL/TIES - Provide facilities and <br />services that are attractive, safe, <br />accessible, and of high. quality design, <br /> <br />15 <br /> <br />002211 <br />
