Further, northern and southern snowpacks do not <br />always vary together. During several consecutive years in the early <br />19705, the north was wetter than normal, the south drier. Snowpacks also <br />vary greatly from east to west and the elevation of snowpack deposits <br />differs from year to year. <br /> <br />49 <br />
