Smith, Deputy State Engineer <br />FROM: Bruce E, DeBrine <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Study Plan for Element A-3a, Water Resources, Six-State High Plains-- <br />Ogallala Aquifer Area Study <br /> <br />Contracting Agency <br /> <br />This subject element study of the High Plain-Ogallala study will be <br />conducted by the Colorado Division of Water Resources, Ground Water Section, <br />under the di recti on of Bruce E. DeBri ne, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado, <br />80203. Overall supervision and direction will be provided by William R. Smith, <br />State liaison Officer and the ~ivision's contracting officer at the same address <br />as above, phone: (303) 839-3585 or 3587. <br /> <br />Summary of 110rk <br /> <br />This portion of the state's study will compile all available geo- <br />hydrologic data, in cooperation with the U. S. Geologic Survey, and other <br />investigators, for the six subregions, shown on the attached map, for the <br />Ogallala area of Colorado. This data will be analyzed and reduced for computer <br />entry to supply the information and projection maps on water resources for <br />elements A-3.1 through A-3.9 and for input to state study elements A-l and A-2. <br />Using available computer models, if compatible with our data base, maps will <br />be generated for 10-year periods from 1980 to 2020 to show: <br /> <br />1, Saturated thickness of the Ogallala aquifer <br />2. Volume of water in storage <br />3, Estimate well yields <br />4, Water level declines <br />5. Withdrawals (pumpage) from the aquifer <br />6, Pumping lifts <br />
